FOR RELEASE MARCH 5, 2008
CINDERELLA’S SLIPPER HAS AN INNOVATION
Ballerinas Katie Branca and Kristen McAllister will share the title role in Cinderella
when Mid-Atlantic Ballet performs at
the new Roselle Center for the Arts
in Newark, Delaware, March 15. In addition to
dancing Sara Neal’s choreography, they
will also debut her breakthrough invention, Pointe Snaps, on their pointe shoes.
Instead
of sewing their ribbons onto their pointe shoes (ballet slippers) to dance the
role of Cinderella, Katie Branca, and
Kristen McAllister, will use Pointe Snaps.
Invented by Mid-Atlantic Ballet Artistic Director and entrepreneur, Sara
Neal, Pointe Snaps attach the ribbons to the shoes with pliers instead of a
needle and thread. “It’s six times
faster than sewing”, says Neal. “I hope
this will save ballet dancers everywhere some time so they can focus on more
important aspects in their lives... I wish I had Pointe Snaps when I was dancing
during high school. I would’ve gotten better
grades and more sleep!”
Since
August 2007, through her website, Pointe Snaps has already sold over 3,000
units to individual dancers, and they’re now on sale at over 50 ballet retail
stores in the U.S.
and counting. “It’s very exciting,” says
Neal, “I never thought I would start a ballet accessories business, but Pointe
Snaps is truly a breakthrough product that will benefit ballet dancers
everywhere.”
Pointe
Snaps SRP is $5-$9, and they’re also available packaged with Pointe Snap Pliérs
for around $15. They’re available at www.pointesnaps.com and at select dance
boutiques. They’re available in ballet
pink, white, black, and tan, and work on both soft ballet slippers and pointe
shoes.
